- Silver is gay and Blaze is a trans lesbian. They are peak wlw/mlm solidarity and often go on dimension-hopping missions to save various planets and universes together.
- Rouge is pan and Knuckles is bi. Knuckles is pretty chill about his attraction to other men and often lovingly calls his male partners sweet and manly stuff (if you remember those 'bro… you are my world bro..' memes, that's exactly it), but he can be very shy when it comes to cute girls.
After he and Rouge (somewhat) put their differences aside after she attempted to steal the Master Emerald, Rouge couldn't help but notice Knuckles acting a little odd around her. He wouldn't always snap back a retort when she'd playfully tease him, even going very quiet and not making eye contact with her when she joked that it almost sounded like he cared after he tried to warn her about Eggman. Just what does that echidna think he's doing? And when did he get so bashful and almost… sweet? Bah, she doesn't have any time for this, better go check on Shadow and Omega and make sure they're not trying to blow something up.
- Sticks and Tails are both asexual and unabashedly proud. They're BFFs and are basically unstoppable whenever they hang out together. Sticks has a decent grasp on mechanical engineering herself and often likes to come over (see: break into Tails's house despite having told her where the key is, what the heck Sticks) and hang out with him while he works on his inventions. While some people might find Sticks's nonstop questions annoying, Tails enjoys having someone to talk about his work with and happily answers every single one of her questions no matter what. They remain pen pals the entire time Tails is off at college as well.
- Shadow is demisexual and nonbinary. Demisexual individuals are capable of feeling attraction toward another person only after they have developed a strong emotional bond with them. Shadow feels very little to no attraction towards anyone unless he becomes close friends with them, which is rare because he often considers himself a lone wolf. Having friends would just slow him down from his mission to protect the world after all, even if he and Sonic both saved the world together, and that Rouge considers him a part of their team. Hm.
The term nonbinary can be used as an umbrella term to describe any individual's gender identity that doesn't fall into the gender binary (in this case the two binaries being male or female). Shadow is nonbinary in the sense that he typically uses he/him or they/them pronouns and generally identifies strongest with a male identity, but he doesn't feel the need to pass as male in every given situation. He is not (always) a man, he is not a woman, he is a threat.
