Hi,

For some reason if I try to access the site via https it says connection refused, it works fine without SSL.
Is the 443 port blocked?

Talk about Your favorite character, Mine is Metal because he feels so much more alive and he knows he can make his own choices but still follows Eggman, it's just so intriguing.

No seriously, where are you coming from?

This isn't a public website. It's still in pre-alpha. This isn't advertised anywhere. Yet we're still getting bursts of users.

How'd you find out about AMS?

First: Please don't spam other threads, other images, etc., asking about thumbnails.

Second: I'm not able to duplicate this behavior. What are you doing to cause this to happen?

Earlier today, FurAffinity announced that they are going to begin deleting art based on the proportions of the characters within. Asked for clarification, an admin used Mew (from Pokemon) as an example of the kind of character they're going to delete. Unfortunately, about 18 years of Sonic art is squarely in the crosshairs here. Many artists don't have the ability to go over their 18 years of artistic output in just one month — particularly the ones who have passed on.

There is no indication they're working with archive.org or any other preservation charity yet. The only way the artwork is going to be saved is if it's moved somewhere — and with help from the people who love their work.

Ask the artists if they're willing to have their art backed up on a booru. Use shouts, so they only get asked once. If they say yes, spread the load among several (such as e621 and furbooru ). Try to preserve original titles and descriptions (we request that in our own uploading guide and our Esteemed Companions on the internet have their own for their own sites). Please be sure to tag accurately and completely.

Ultimately, everything on the Internet is built on sand, and the waves are always coming in. But we can keep telling their stories to keep a little of it up a little longer.

There's a whole bunch of shipping tags, such as sonadow, on our site. This isn't directly a problem, yet. However, going forwards, I can see this being an issue because there is no one single way to name a ship pair. It would nice to have a way to have a good idea what a tag "ought" to be even if you don't know if anyone has ever drawn it.

My suggestion is to change all ship tags to the form:

A x B

where A and B are the accepted short names here on AMS, A is the name that comes first alphabetically, and B is the name that follows alphabetically.

Thus, if you wanted to see if a really rare ship existed, say Sally and Espio, you wouldn't be in the dark guessing Salespio? Salspio? Espally? Espially?" or searching sally acorn, esipo, shipping and hoping for results, you could just type in espio x sally and see if results existed right away.

Thoughts? Downsides?

I have too many to reasonably make individual threads, but I'll split them up into separate posts by media type so it isn't just one big blob. Here's some characters that need to be blue.

I'll start with characters from the games:

dodon pa → character
dr. fukurokov → character
foreman krag → character
heavy the robot → character
iblis → character
illumina → character
mephiles the dark → character
merlina the wizard → character
mother wisp → character
nega-mother wisp → character
norman → character
shahra → character
sister sonic → character
speedy the kukku → character
wendy witchcart → character

This forum is is for requesting changes that are restricted to mods.

Please us one thread per tag you want altered. This allows mods to close threads when done.

Aliases

alias artist:example_1234artist:example

In the thread, include a link showing us where they acknowledged that identity as one of theirs.

Tag Merging

Include your reasoning for the request — it might seem logical to you but it's not logical to everyone.

alias hand behind backarm behind back
They mean the same thing.

Tag Profile Information

To add profile information to a tag, link both the artist tag and the off-site profiles or pages you want linked.

artist:example

Twitter | Deviantart | Wikipedia

OCs: Example the Dog, Placeholder the Cat

Tag Categorization Changes

If a tag is improperly tagged, open a thread to have it fixed.

Categories that can be requested, are none, origin, character, species, fanmade content, official content, and spoiler.

sonic ova → origin

Tag Implications

Tag implications should be used sparingly (consider all the variation tags: gender swap, species swap, role swap, etc) except for the things absolutely implied by the tag

This is a pretty significant policy change, and I would like to air it before it's agreed to.

Consider this image:

It's recently a trend for artists to simply screenshot their art programs. (It's faster than saving and usually easier than exporting, anyways.) However, this is also used for a lot of art that is not actually intended to be posted to galleries anywhere, or for sketches that won't get finished and published.

I'm thinking about changing Rule 1 to mention these workspace screenshot WIPs as explicitly outside the realm of what may be uploaded on AMS. To wit, changing:

Do not upload art that is not publicly released. Patreon content, folio content, art packs, private commissions, pictures from private Discord servers, WIPs not intended for publication, adoptables, and other forms of paid content may not be uploaded here.

To:

The governing clauses here are "publicly released" and "WIPs not intended for publication." If you're the artist posting your own workspace screenshots, then you have the ability to post your own workspace screenshots — you can always publicly release your own art. If you're posting some piece of art where it's interacting with the interface by design (e.g., Sonic commenting on the artist), then it's not a WIP, it's part of the design. But it'd keep artists from having to worry about every throwaway screenshot they show their friends.

AMS has had a fundraising page up for over a year… and not had anything to put into it, besides requesting supporting the parent project. During this prealpha period, that's been fine. But the site is growing, registrations are picking up (even though I've never advertised this site…) and new content appears every day. Soon it'll be time to expand the core server and add 1-2 more servers, which means it'll be a bit more than $2/day!

There is one hard requirement which has stymied my personal search: Any services must allow adult content. Smut has never been a focus of AMS, but we definately do not want to have to start splitting hairs over what is and what is not allowed at an arbitrary time down the road, or have to do a literal decimation of our database.

So, I turn to you, the Mobians of mobius.social: What services have you used and can recommend? I am looking for:

• a recurring patronage system (Patreon-style),
• a one-off donation system (Ko-Fi-style), and
• a merchandise system (RedBubble style).

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

After some thought, I'm going to be migrating all the character-specific outfit tags to something that implies who owns them. This should make it easier to find in tag autocompletion.

For example: "red halterneck outfit" > "amy's halterneck dress"

Outfit tags that describe a look not evocative of any one character (cowpoke outfit, maid outfit, zone cop outfit, etc) won't be changed.

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
