This sector of Egg Base Alpha is on Lock! Cassia and Clove have things covered here as they personally intercept their intruders. These Egg Bosses are ready for a battle as their packin’ Chaos Emerald Power!

This drawing was a blast to work on. Clove’s serene grace against Cassia’s bubbly nature create a fun picture. Add in a deep hallway for depth and a splash of special effects and everything molds together to create a pretty impressive piece. This was my first crack at drawing the pair and I am happy to report that everything came along swimmingly. I personally love the design behind Cassia’s exceedingly expressive eyes and Clove’s cloven Boots.



Of all the new Egg Bosses that were introduced during the tail end of the Archie comics, Cass n’ Clo were my favorites by a country mile. Their design, their angle both with and against the Eggman empire, their built in bond with each other… simply character gold. Like so many of the Egg Bosses these two showed you a side of the evil doctor’s regime that you are not used to seeing and it displayed how complicated things really are in the world beyond the freedom fighters. There are many struggling to get just a little security and safety, and sometimes the only way to get that is by being under Eggy’s heel. The comic’s were beginning to get you to value both the heroes and villain’s of their stories in a much greater capacity than ever before. Every fraction the freedom fighters assisted and saved hung another group out to dry. A win over Eggman was no longer a black and white victory. The results of actions taken by Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends would lead to people, GOOD PEOPLE, suffering. I must admit, I adored the new stance the comic was leaning towards.

These two lovely ladies are some of the best embodiments of this philosophy. It was clear that they cared for each other and those under their charge. I wanted what was best for them, and when that was tested, I felt legitimate pain. Even worse, as Egg Bosses they would be put in direct conflict with our heroes. At some point, someone has to lose, and I am not betting against the Blue Hedgehog. They are living a Shakespearean level tragedy, as we just wind the clock and wait for Sonic to do what he does best. Heartbreaking stuff.



As I have said before I hope this isn’t the last we see of these Archie Original Characters, and I hope this can keep the spark that surrounds them aflame just a little while longer.
