Little nervous about uploading this I don't even know why

Yeah so, I wanted to redo my extremely old and embarrassing picture:

I was going to make it Sonic and Amy, but I thought Sonic and Tails would be alot more emotional because broness.
This isn't a Sontails picture, by the way. Nothing against the couple- I just wanted to state this wasn't intended to be a romantic picture.

I'll do what I did last time; if you want to write a short story to go with this in the comments, I'll feature it in the description. ♥

The smoke cleared. Eggman's mech was destroyed. The citizens of Mobius left there homes to come outside and see Eggman on the retreat. The city cheered for there blue hero. However, they didn't see what wasn't covered by the smoke. Upon it clearing, the city went quiet as they saw a twin tailed fox with tears streaming down his face, holding a blue hedgehog, with blood drawing from his head. Tails babbled, trying to deny the inevitable fact that his best friend, his brother, was dying.

"S-SSonic?" Tails cried, "C-Come on! Wake up! You beat Eggman!" Sonic stared at Tails as he was feeling his blood pour onto the pavement. He weakly placed his hand on Tails as he stared him in the eyes.

"T-Tails," Sonic weakly said, "P-Please don't cry. It… It'll be okay."

"No!" Tails screamed, "We'll get you help! Y-You'll be okay!" Sonic gripped Tails hand harder.

"Tails…" Sonic started, "Y-You need to keep the freedom fighters. Y-You need to do what I wasn't able to do… stop Eggman, once and for all."

"Sonic, please!" Tails cried, "You can't leave us! You can't leave me!" Tails hugged Sonic, crying into his shoulder.

"D-Don't worry, brother." Sonic returned the hug with whatever strength he had left, "I-I know you'll be okay. I know you'll lead them to victory. I… know you… will." And with that, Sonic exhaled deeply and his eyes sank. Tails felt Sonic's hands drop and he moved back from the embrace. He saw his friends eyes staring blankly into the skies. The citizens of Mobius bowed there head in respect for there fallen hero. Tails used his fingers and dropped Sonic's eyelids. He began to cry even more than before. Never had Tails felt this much pain before in his life. Tails picked up the seven chaos emeralds Sonic had used to go super and stop Eggman's mech. He stood up, lowered his head and walked through the crowd.

Sonic gazed upon the teary fox and he barely opened his mouth as he whispered quietly.

Tails, you'll always be a fucking nerd.

And he died. The end.

Weeks after the battle for the planet, Tails was strolling through an open field. The fur on his head swished along with the grass around him as a warm breeze swept through the area. In his mind, he once again found himself remembering those last few moments after the battle was won…

Blood ran through his gloved fingers and down the spines of his the blue-furred body, salty tears harshly stinging his eyes as he desperately searched for any sign of life. In the distance, he could hear Amy Rose crying as well, likely using Knuckles as her shoulder to cry on. Tails didn't care though… Their latest battle with the supernatural had finally taken the one thing he cared most about in this world… his best friend.

A stiff breeze whipped past the two-tailed fox, bringing him back to reality. He could see a mass of dandelions blow by in the sudden gust. As he watched, the dandelions swirled in a vortex, climbing high into the atmosphere and out of sight. A soft smile form on his face… This was a sign. A sign that even though he was gone from this place… Sonic would always be watching from wherever the next life took him.

"Thanks for taking care of us for all these years, big brother…" Tails whispered. "But now, it's our turn to take care of ourselves…"

The fox reached up to the heavens, a bright smile on his face.

"See you next game…"

The blue hedgehog staggered out from the wreckage that had been cause by the explosion he and his comrades had caused. Assorted gasps were heard as his friends noticed his blue fur was stained a deep red, as was the ground behind and around him. He weakly attempted a smile and thumbs up to signal that he was ok but this could not have been further from the truth and instead, he fell to the floor in a heap as his broken body succumbed to the injuries and blood loss he had sustained. Everyone was in shock but one young, two-tailed fox instinctively rushed over to his best friend, no, his brother and cradled him, tears forming in his eyes. The hedgehog suddenly spoke, quietly, as he looked up at the fox "Tails, I'm sorry bro, I failed you. I said I would always be here, guess I couldn't keep that promise after all, huh? Just take care of yourself and the others, ok?" As the life left his body, Tails began to weep uncontrollably, embracing the broken body of his fallen brother ever tighter and whispered "No, I failed YOU."

The battle had ended, Eggman vowing revenge and fleeing as usual, unfortunately, he hadn't stayed long enough for the smoke to clear. There was a casualty other than his small army of machines and various minions. Sonic the hedgehog.

As Tails tried his best to stop the bleeding, it suddenly dawned on him that Sonic had stopped talking, or…well, anything. His once lively green eyes had glazed over and turned pale, motionless. The blood seeping from the gap in his quills creating a small pond that extinguished a few small flames spreading from a burning robot husk nearby. Somewhere in the distance, a brief celebration was heard, most likely unaware of the loss suffered.

Hugging his "big bro" closer, tears rolled down his cheeks, leaving damp trails in their wake. He whispered, "S-Sonic…please…don't go…I" chokes on his own words a little, coughing as he accidentally swallows his own tears, "A sidekick always needs his Hero…"

The explosion seemed to shake the very foundation of the earth. Intense heat radiated from the walls as if the entire base had become a giant oven. Stumbling through the smoke and debris, a familiar young fox searched for his friend, his calls being drowned out by several other smaller explosions that were occurring all over the facility. A fallen metal column concealed by the smoke caught the young man by his shin, sending him tumbling down even further into the chaos. Pieces of jagged metal stuck out in various places in the narrow shaft scoring many small cuts along the knees, arms, and head of the fox.

He regained some control over his descent using his twin tails as propellers until finally coming to a stop in the center of a large almost arena-like area illuminated by fierce flames. A fallen mech lay in pieces against one of the walls, partially submerged in debris. The young fox craned his head around till his eyes fell upon a grisly sight. Rushing over, he quickly scooped up the body of the renowned blue hedgehog, tears beginning to form in his eyes as he beheld the deep gashes and the crimson essence that flowed from them. The Fox embraced the hedgehog closely to his body, his tears overflowing and spilling onto the face of the once great hero now laying broken in his arms — and then froze.

A small flutter of motion deep in his chest.
Those once brilliant emerald irises now dulling to a sickly green.
A bloodied gloved hand slowly reached up to weakly ruffle the three small tufts of hair on the young fox's head.

Pulling away quickly, the fox gazed intensely into those weak emeralds that stared back up at him, his face coming alight in false hope. He watched closely as the blue one attempted to offer a small grin, but was only able to manage a thin curved line that soon faded, along with the faint glimmer of intelligence in those green eyes. Witnessing this, the young fox's own eyes contracted and his body shook with the force of his woe as he clutched his once dear friend close, crying into his chest with tears that seemed never-ending. He stayed like this for some time, rocking back and forth, cradling his fallen brother as he would an injured child. As fate would have it, the very ceiling the fox boy had fallen through began to shudder and crumble, worn down by the force of the explosions and searing heat of the flames above. He cared not as chunks of metal and stone fell about him, his eyes staying locked despairingly on those of his brother until his sorrow fell silent and all became darkness.
