original description

It's a duck! It's a woodpecker! No, it's a crazy lunatic with bombs!

In preparation for a big comic, a commissioner asked for a few characters to be done, and here's the first one, Bean! I didn't know much about Bean before doing this comm, but the more I searched about him in preparation and research for this model, the more I kinda fell in love with the dude… he's great! I just love the "crazy fourth-wall breaking" silly cartoon character trope, and for what I've seen of him, he unique that he's actually quite smart! Most characters with this trope are very dumb or incompetent, but not Bean… I very much appreciate that~

I guess I should start with the most interesting thing… his mouth. He's supposed to be a bird (which bird is up to debate), so you'd expect him to have the Wave/Jet style beak… however the more I looked at the comic pages and examples with him, his mouth was almost always a… "side mouth", like Sonic and most of the other main characters have. I kept looking and looking for examples of him having a wide, center beak style mouth, but… nop, most of it was a expressive side-mouth like most non-bird characters. So yea, I put that type of mouth on the model.
I decided to keep the design as close to the comics as I could, the way he was drawn in them is adorable, he's a very charming and cute character and I wanted to keep as much of it as I could. The one major design choice I decided to keep from the original Sonic the Fighters design was… no socks~ It helps differentiate the shoes more from Sonic's, since the design is really similar, even more if he had socks. Plus, it's nice to have a character to REALLY wear shoes without socks explicitly. You can guess what the implications of that are >w>

I hope yall enjoy this dood, and yea, I do have a footy render of him already done, I'll post it eventually~
